About Letters to Millie
"An interesting, unpredictable, true-to-life story ..." —Kaye Trout, Midwest Book Review
After an outbreak of violence, Raleigh is no longer a sleepy little town. Sheriff Bud Oswald has to figure out who dynamited his office, as well as what happened to a US senator, the town bully, a dry cleaner, and the plane that crashed in the middle of the night. To make matters worse, Raleigh County has suddenly become the center of a drug ring.
When hired killers show up, Sheriff Bud rallies the local police and turns to his friends for help. One of them, Raymond Thornton, Vietnam War hero, PTSD victim and town drunk, is still grieving for his wife, Millie, killed by the same ex-con who rolled dynamite under the Sheriff's truck.
After Millie's death, Raymond's friends had to send him to a remote cabin to keep him from taking matters into his own hands. In isolation, he begins writing letters to Millie. Eventually, he pulls himself together, just in time to help the Sheriff when he needs it most.
After the dust settles, Raymond must decide what to do with his stack of letters to Millie, scrawled on torn grocery bags - the only paper he could find. When he makes his choice, he reveals the secret behind her legacy.
